PAMA WALKTHROUGH

Before boarding the Pama LX540, one is compelled to walk around this awesome vessel and admire her carefully sculpted lines from all angles. She is as beautiful, yet masculine a pilothouse yacht to ever be built. Her tooling is fresh and the builder took extra care to insure that the only waves you see will be on the water.

Her construction is of sturdy solid glass on the bottom with the first three layers being vinylester to prevent blistering. Her stringer system is bordering on excessive. And everything above the water line is cored with Nidacore honeycomb material which is extremely strong and light weight. A nice by product of using this coring is that you can eliminate any chance of ever seeing a "checkerboard" print through in your hull sides and decks.

She has extra deep pockets, for props that is, giving a shallow draft of 3’2" with complete prop protection from the keel.

As you step onto the sexy Euro transom’s swim platform, you feel secure with the standard stainless steel U-rails in place. You then have a choice of going either to port or starboard to enter the aft deck as there are two gates with steps leading up. Once in the cockpit your eye immediately goes to the beautifully sculpted stainless steel/teak bridge stairs. After pulling your eyes away from this masterpiece you notice the flowing soft radius of the glass aft doors and bulkhead. You might glance upward to see the beautifully finished overhang that will protect you from the elements.

Walking into the salon of the LX540, one of the first things noticed is the enormous feeling of it. The salon measures 12 feet fore & aft and about the same athwart ship. The sofa is a full eleven feet long on the port side. The overhead louvered soffits are made of the interior wood of choice and are works of art. They also carry the air from the air handlers. On hulls #1 and #2 there are 36" flat TV’s forward, and both a refrigerator and icemaker in cabinets below the TV. The entire salon, as the rest of this yacht, is finished almost completely with extraordinary joinery. In this case Cherry finished in semi gloss. The salon floor, as are the rest of the interior decks, is made up of a Nidacore honeycomb/FRP sandwich, but the salon floor has three layers of Nidacore and four layers of fiberglass. This should reduce sound levels significantly in the salon while underway while at the same time providing a sturdy, never squeaking floor.

Leaving the salon forward up four steps you find yourself in the galley/pilothouse area. This area is an engineering achievement. The galley, aft to starboard, with choice of upright or below counter refrigeration has plenty of counter space, more storage than one would expect, gorgeous granite tops, overhead cabinetry and ample lighting, not to mention a great view through any of the surrounding windows.

Along the portside is the eight foot long dinette bench with a stunning cherry and burl table finished in gloss. The table slides aft and a seat cushion removes to access the port side door. Both side doors are another important feature of this yacht, as they open and close very similar to those of a minivan. They push out and slide back easily and they fit flush when they are closed. This is sure to become one of Pama’s signature features.

Aft of the dinette is a smaller version of the bridge stairs, but this one curves from inboard to aft as it reaches the fly bridge door. (Which opens and closes electrically)

Front and center is the handsome helm area with a sophisticated looking burl console housing the electronics. There is a lighted alarm diagram above the starboard windshield panel. The controls are Hydraulic, but electronic come standard as well. The wheel is laminated cherry on a stainless hub with spokes and one of the controls for the standard 11 HP bow thruster is here as well.

Follow your nose to starboard a little and make your way down the stairs into the companionway. If you continue the curve to your left, you find yourself at the door to the master stateroom. You will immediately notice the vast 46" space you have between yourself and the foot of the queen sized bed. Your eyes will then be forced in several directions at once as you try to choose what to admire first. Your choices will include the cherry, double, curved, overhead soffit above the headboard, the lovely four foot radiuses in the forward bulkheads and doors, the Sosji screens along the port side covering the portlights, or maybe the walk in cedar liner closet to starboard or the ¾ closet to port.

The master head is to starboard with plenty of room, cabinetry, and a very large, beautifully finished shower. The tops here are also completed with rich feeling granite and fixtures. The sole is gorgeous, covered with granite squares with stainless steel inlay.

Moving forward from the master suite you find an innovative third stateroom to port with an upper that doubles as a backrest for the lower when used as a lounge. Immediately across to starboard is a large front loading washer with the dryer above behind a lovely set of cherry louvered doors. Just forward of the laundry center is the beautifully appointed guest head also including a very large shower and rich feeling granite sole, tops and fixtures.

Forward adjoins the spacious VIP stateroom that will make any guest feel welcome, with 36" between the door and a centerline queen berth which raises on gas shocks to expose the carefully finished storage area beneath. This stateroom also has an overhead louvered vent which wraps forward completely from the aft port corner to the starboard aft corner. This has several holes cut to allow the air to flow evenly throughout the room. (smaller holes close to the air handler and larger ones as you get further away) There is a small settee for changing aft to port and a good size hanging locker to starboard. (watch out, your guests may want to stay!)

On the forward deck, the raised bulwarks and oversized rails give you a true sense of security as you walk toward the anchor locker which houses the below deck windlass! You might notice that the walls inside the locker are faired and polished. In the raised bulwarks you will find one of six sets of oversized polished stainless steel hause pipes, the forward ones with rollers, the midship & aft ones with built in cleats.

On the bridge, the helm and companion chairs are on a raised deck giving the operator and navigator super visibility as well as providing extra headroom for the transition from the salon into the galley. The curved aft seating is more than enough room for four healthy Americans, and the wet bar to starboard houses a refrigerator, sink, and an optional grill. Aft of the curved seating is the standard 1000 lb Nick Jackson davit. The radar arch is standard while the attractive masculine hardtop is optional.

The engine room! I am in heaven! Completely faired and urethane painted stringers and bottom with completely polished stainless steel engine beds! Wiring and plumbing run in unison with chafing gear! Carefully run fuel lines! Room to work!

Moving aft to the lazzerrette, this area is also faired and painted! Polished stainless steel battery switch box! Carefully organized equipment! Easily accessed generator! I am home.
